Recently my wife has been doing Zumba dance for her cardio / aerobic exercises.  She loves it!  Because we live in a remote location she can’t find an aerobics class that offers this, so she has been watching the videos and dancing along with them.  She just raves about it and has been telling all her friends on Facebook.

After college, the story changed dramatically as we entered the work force full time.  A few years later and our first child was born.  A few more years and another baby came along.  The busy-ness of work and family life came in and hi-jacked our lives!  Where we used to easily find the time to stay active, we now struggled just get everything done with enough time to get to bed on time… only to repeat the routine again the next day.  When the weekend came along all we really wanted to do was rest – not workout!

Needless to say, we kept on talking about working out again “some day”.  But “some day” seemed to never come along.  Four children and many years later we were both very unhappy with our physical condition and we decided to do something about it.  We changed our diet and our routines to include more activities.  This is where Zumba fits into the big picture.

Today, Zumba is a normal part of my wife’s routine to keep herself physically active.  She turns on the TV and dances along with the instructors on screen.  She doesn’t need to take the time to drive into town for an aerobics class.  She doesn’t have to waste time in the middle of a busy work day, changing out of work clothes into workout clothes and back into work clothes afterward.  When she gets home from work – and when she is good and ready to workout – she pops in the DVD and dances her way to a great shape!  (And I must admit – she has a great shape!! )
