My Weight Loss Journey

I didn’t always struggle with weight. I was once a really skinny kid! In college I wanted to bulk up, so I began lifting weights and eating like a pig. Believe it or not I actually had a difficult time gaining weight! But after a year of learning to eat until I literally felt like I would throw up, I had managed to pack on 40 extra pounds – and it wasn’t all muscle weight either!
Then I got married and began to eat good meals on a regular basis (no more Ramen noodles for me!). Then we started having children, and I found less and less time to workout until I eventually wasn’t doing any type of exercise at all. Needless to say, I gained weight and lost muscle tone. I went from a fit, muscular college guy to a fat, flabby white collar worker.
Then one day, after years of being fat and flabby, I looked in the mirror and realized how unhappy I was with my body image. I remembered that I had once been in good shape, but in my current condition I was embarrassed to take my shirt off at the beach for fear that someone might accidentally harpoon me! I had been taking my family on vacations to the beach each summer and I didn’t want to spend much time out in the sun and waves with them because I was just too embarrassed about my weight.

So I decided to take action and put into practice those things I had learned years ago about exercise and nutrition – only this time I wanted to take pounds OFF my body, not put them ON. I determined to read as much information as I could get my hands on. I chose a diet / nutrition plan to follow, and I purchased some used exercise equipment and I picked up some nutritional supplements to help me on my weight loss journey.
My wife and I decided to do this together and she had even better results than me! After giving birth to four children she had earned a mommy tummy (what do you expect after 4 kids right?). Well, she lost ALL of her baby weight – every bit of it! She looks so amazing now that I get have to worry a bit when we go to the beach! She really is one hot mommy!

I also decided to do one extra thing which made all the difference in the world – I kept a weight loss journal. I didn’t write in diary, but I did keep track of my current weight, my daily food intake and my daily exercise routines.
At first nothing changed much. The weight didn’t melt away instantly, but it did finally begin to disappear after about 2 weeks.
After a few weeks I had lost a couple of pounds – and I was encouraged. After a few more weeks I had lost even more weight and I wanted to keep it going! I finally got to the point that I was losing 2-3 pounds per week – and I felt like I was on top of the world!
It felt so great to be losing weight and succeeding with my goals! After a few months I had lost 23 pounds – and it was time to go to the beach with my family for a vacation! This time I didn’t mind to take off my shirt – in fact I was quite proud of myself. My wife even took a photo of me and put them up in her office.
I gained a couple pounds on vacation (hey! what do you expect?!). But I quickly lost the fat when I got back home and back on my routine. Before long I realized that I had lost 30 pounds total!
Since then I’ve learned how I can eat out and keep from gaining extra weight. Next time I go on vacation I will be able to enjoy the foods I love and stay fit and trim!
Because I kept a journal, I knew exactly what was working for me and what wasn’t. I decided to create a website to share my success with anyone who wanted to learn and be encouraged to keep on with their weight loss goals!
